Redwoods at University of California - Berkeley
I was surprised to see a small Redwood forest on the Berkeley campus. I thought I was going to have to wait until the next day at Muir Woods to see my first giant tree.Return to the Castro
After leaving Kurt and the redwoods, I got back onto BART and zoomed back into San Francisco. When I came up from the suway stop at the Embarcadero station, the sun was just right for me to get this pic of The Ferry Building at the north end of Market Street.
On the ride down Market to the Castro, this building behind a tree caught my attention, particularly the large windows that were propped open. I loved the ornate embellishments on the facade.
And then I arrived back in the Castro.
On the first visit a couple of days before, it started off cloudy. The sun was glowing on my return.
The rainbow flag was so pretty in the sunshine, I had to film it and its surroundings.
One of the interesting things about the Castro are the quirky gift shops.
Another interesting thing is the display window in some of the shops.
One of the things I learned about during the Cruisin' the Castro Walking Tour was the Rainbow Honor Walk imprinted in the sidewalks of the Castro. I think there are currently a couple of dozen. Two of my favorites:
On this return trip, I got some better pics of Harvey Milk's former camera store. I loved the seating area that was there when the camera store was there.
A few more pics of the Castro Theatre sign...
...then I hopped back on the streetcar to go back to the BART station at the Embrcadero. I was the only passenger most of the way and the streetcar driver was telling me a lot about the history of the streetcars. He was so full of information. And I was falling more and more in love with San Francisco. He was typical of so many people I met: Friendly and personable.
After I left Amoeba, I made the trek to the football stadium to wait for Kurt. There is this interesting marker outside the stadium.

Berkeley
Once back in Berkeley, my friend Steven Kroll in Los Angeles said I needed to visit the original Amoeba store. Amoeba is an iconic music store. I found a Coldplay cd that I had been looking for.
After I left Amoeba, I made the trek to the football stadium to wait for Kurt. There is this interesting marker outside the stadium.
